Lewis D. Baker, CFP® is a seasoned wealth advisor whose practice is centered on comprehensive financial planning with tax efficiency.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in management, Lew started his career in 1994 at Merrill Lynch. After earning numerous accolades, he was recruited as a competitive hire by Morgan Stanley to the position of vice president.
Lew built his success upon a solid foundation of investment knowledge, but also recognized that financial planning and tax efficiency can be of equal or greater value to individual investors. His passion for leadership and helping others led him to leave the large corporate structure of Morgan Stanley to launch his own firm, Baker Schilling Wealth Strategies in 2002. With the addition of new team members, in 2018, Lew launched Rock Creek Wealth Planners and Advisors, a goal-oriented planning-based firm serving the needs of business owners, pre-retirees, and retirees as they transition into the income phase of their lives.
Outside of the advisory firm he has built, Lew is a co-manager of the Academy Fund, and is an early-stage investor in several veteran led ventures. He also serves as a director on the board of Empower, a D.C. based startup taking on Uber and Lyft in the rideshare space.
Lew gives back to his alma mater and community as an outreach officer for West Point, and currently serves as a service academy selection board member for U.S. Representative Eleanor Holmes-Norton.
